Derek John Rogers brings 15 years of professional experience advising and partnering with nonprofit organizations on fundraising and development. He has worked with more than 100 organizations of every size and mission type across the country, delivering hands-on counsel and support.

Before founding his own consulting practice in 2020, Derek spent nearly a decade at Orr Group. There, he served as a project lead for clients including DC Central Kitchen, the Obama Foundation, Whitman-Walker Health, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, and Washington Nationals Philanthropies.

Derek is known for his strategic thinking, meticulous attention to detail, and disciplined project management. He doesn't just advise—he rolls up his sleeves and works alongside his clients to strengthen development strategies, build fundraising infrastructure, and foster deeper donor relationships.

Derek also partners with fellow consultants who serve the nonprofit sector, stepping in as a trusted extension of their team to deliver senior-level fundraising expertise on client engagements.

Based in Washington, DC, Derek lives in Logan Circle with his husband and their dog, Daisy. When he's not working with clients, you can find him exploring a new U.S. state each year (next up is New Mexico!) or spending time in New England, where he grew up.
